Soon after graduating from Washington State and signing with the Sonics, James Donaldson knew Seattle would be his home. And it has been since 1980.
Seattle is where James put down roots, bought a house, built a small business, became active in the community, in education, with the Chamber of Commerce, and in improving disadvantaged and underutilized areas of the city such as the Central Area and Rainier Valley.
Years as a small businessman and in the NBA taught James the values and virtues of; successfully working towards goals, strategies, perseverance, positive mental attitude, and most importantly…Team Work. James looks forward to making our wonderful city of Seattle even better as we work through a challenging economic time and look forward to a promising and thriving future.
Seattle is an extraordinary city. Our values as a community, our environment, our neighborhoods and our downtown put us in a league of our own. But what really sets us apart is the commitment of Seattleites to get involved, to work for the right causes, to have their values drive their actions. In a nutshell, Seattle cares.
A few things James will focus on as mayor include;
- Creating jobs and improving our economy.
- Improving schools and education.
- Returning the voices of our neighborhoods to City Hall.
- Stop pricing people and businesses out of the city by halting increases in the cost of city government.
- Streamlining city government and making it more accountable.
- Building new and healthy relationships with leaders throughout our region and state
